Water is essential for life, making up about 60% of our body weight. Proper hydration plays a crucial role in nearly every bodily function, from regulating temperature to transporting nutrients.
Why is Hydration Important?
- Supports organ function
- Aids in digestion and nutrient absorption
- Regulates body temperature
- Lubricates joints
- Improves skin health
- Boosts energy levels and brain function
Signs of Dehydration:
Thirst isn't always the first sign. Look out for:
- Dark yellow urine
- Dry mouth and skin
- Headache or dizziness
- Fatigue or lethargy
- Constipation
Tips for Staying Hydrated:
- Carry a reusable water bottle and sip throughout the day.
- Eat water-rich foods like fruits (watermelon, oranges) and vegetables (cucumber, celery).
- Drink water before, during, and after exercise.
- Limit sugary drinks, caffeine, and alcohol, which can be dehydrating.
- Infuse water with lemon, cucumber, or berries for flavor.
Individual hydration needs vary based on activity level, climate, and overall health. Listen to your body and make hydration a priority.
